- Keep a visible fallback that fits 4 to 12 characters. Official Helpshift documents a free first change, then 100 gems, and the name must be free.
- On the home screen tap the Stumbler avatar, then the pencil beside the current nickname. That is the in-game nick, not a Kitka website.
- Paste a candidate that fits 4 to 12 characters. If the name is taken, the prompt refuses. Pick another before gems leave.
- Later changes show 100 gems on that prompt. The Kitka account login is a different field from this Stumbler nickname.

A taken name fails on the prompt before you should confirm. Check that line, then look at the home screen after save.
