Test the blank in Snapchat before you pay
Read the counter on the rename screen before you confirm.
Display Name is the Chat line. Username is the unique @ and official help allows one change per year. Friends who already added you may still see the old Display Name; a number in their phone can cover it.

- Paste once. Do not confirm yet. Watch the field for two seconds.

- If the letters stay, read the counter, then confirm once. Check the Snapchat lobby list and a friend’s phone before another rename.

Japanese nick instead?
Use the Japanese Snapchat path. Generate kana, then test in the same rename field. If kana will not save, the fallback there is latin plus ツ — not more blank.
